WALDON POND

I walked on the water at Walden Pond
with Bob Dylan, Henry David Thoreau,
and Jesus Christ.
In the bright autumn sun
we crossed from one shore
to the other.
Looking up,
I saw the sky laced
with fragments of clouds
sewn into the splendor
of the day.
"Hey, Henry!" I yelled,
"Now I know why you
love this place so much!"
He turned to smile broadly
but said nothing.
"How come we couldn't
always do this?" I asked.
"You always could!" said Jesus,
"You just didn't believe it."
"Yeah, it took me awhile
to get the hang of it," said Dylan,
"but now it's easy."

APOCALYPSE MORNING

MEASURED TIME
OF REVELATION
WATCHING FROM
OUR LOST SALVATION
CRUSHED IN FEAR
OF DOOMSDAY COME
THINKING TILL
IT MAKES YOU NUMB

SMOKEY PILLARS
STAND THE SKY
WAILING VOICES
HEAR THEM CRY
ANGELS BURN
ON GOLDEN CROSS
YOU CANNOT GAGE
THE SENSE OF LOSS

PANICKED PEOPLE
GROPING GOD
RETURNED TO DUST
THE WAITING SOD
LOST FOREVER
IN THE PAST
THE FUTURE'S COMING
WAY TOO FAST

BLOWN INFUSION
BUSTED DREAMS
NOTHING'S REALLY
AS IT SEEMS
REVELATIONS
COME TO CALL
AND TAKE THE POWERFUL
AND SMALL

RICHES RAGGED
DESPERATION
COSTING ALL
OF EVERY NATION
BIGOT'S BALL
THE DANCE GOES ON
GONE IS EVERYTHING
UPON

NOTHING STANDING
MENDED MINCE
IT CANNOT COPE
WITH EVER SINCE
THE WRITING'S NEVER
ON THE WALL
IT'S WRITTEN ON
THE GROUND YOU CRAWL

JOHN'S DEVINE
WAS PLASMA CHURNING
DEPTHS OF HELL
AND SINNERS BURNING
WAS HIS VISION
TRULY MADNESS
OR THE PROPHECY
OF SADNESS

BELLOW ON
FROM DEADLY SORROW
RUN AWAY
AVOID TOMORROW
WHAT IT COMES WITH
DESTINATION
RIPPING TIME
THROUGH REVELATION

THE MANSIONS OF YOUR DREAMS

HOLLYWOOD'S
A LONELY TOWN
WHEN NOTHING'S
GOIN RIGHT
YOU SLEEP AWAY
THE DAYTIME
AND DRINK
AWAY THE NIGHT
LIVIN OFF THE
DREAMS YOU
DREAM
WAITIN FOR
A BREAK
HARDCORE TOWN
OF LIFE
AND DEATH
AND AWFUL HARD
TO TAKE

TEENAGE DREAMS
ARE OVER THIRTY
YESTERDAY IS
GONE
THE SUNSET STRIP'S
A LEGEND
BUT JUST ANOTHER
STREET AT DAWN
HOLLYWOOD'S
A FUNNY TOWN
FILLED WITH
KINGS AND
QUEENS
BUT NO ONE
THAT I'VE
EVER MET
IS SURE OF
WHAT IT
MEANS

ALL YOU LONELY
DREAMERS ON
THE STREETS
OF BITTER SWEET
LOOKIN FOR
AN ANSWER
TO MAKE YOURSELF
COMPLETE

I KNOW WHAT
YOU'RE LOOKING
FOR
I'M LOOKING
FOR IT TOO
THE MAGIC OF
THE MAKE BELIEVE
KEEPS ON
HAUNTING YOU
BUT ONLY THOSE
WHO LIVE IT
CAN KNOW
WHAT IT ALL
MEANS
TO LIVE AND DIE
IN HOLLYWOOD
IN THE MANSIONS
OF YOUR DREAMS

THE FLESH OF CHILDREN'S DREAMS

CATAPULTED
INTO BLACK
STUMBLE
TOWARD
THE CRIMSON
CRACK
MUMBLE
SOMETHING AT
THE WALL
NO ONE HEARS
NO ONE
AT ALL

ANTIQUATED
ETIQUETTE
FILLS THE EARS
LIKE STUBBORN
SHIT
BUILT FROM
RUBBISH ON
A PAGE
KILLS THE
SOUL
AND TURNS
TO RAGE

LOVERS MOCK
THE ONES
THEY WANT
MOTHER'S MILK
A GENTLE TAUNT
AGAINT THE
FLESH OF
CHILDREN'S
DREAMS
LISTEN YOU
CAN HEAR
THEIR SCREAMS

AND NEVER KNEW THAT I WAS GONE

SUBTLE BREEZE
ACROSS MY WAY
WHERE WILL I
END UP THIS DAY

ROAD'S END WISHING
FOR MORE STRING
OR WILLINGLY
GIVE UP THIS THING

KITE LIKE DREAMS
THAT NEVER SETTLE
OLD WOOD STOVE
AND COPPER KETTLE

TIRED SOUL AND
TIRED EYES
SQUINT AGAINST
THE TORTURED SKIES

SONGS OF SADNESS
FILL MY JAW
WITH MELODIES
OF THINGS I SAW

AND LIFE WENT ON
AND ON AND ON
AND NEVER KNEW
THAT I WAS GONE

THE ART OF FORCE

L.A.'S FILLED
WITH NAMES AND FACES
DON'T FORGET
I KNOW THOSE PLACES
WOUNDS CAN HEAL
WHEN LEFT ALONE
WAKE NOT THE MONSTER
IN HIS HOME

I HUNTED ON THOSE
L.A. STREETS
KNEW THE STRONG
AND KNEW THE WEAK
TASTED BLOOD
AND LIVED ON PAIN
DINED WITH THOSE
WITH SHIT FOR BRAINS

LOADED WORDS
LIKE LOADED GUNS
ARE SOMETIMES NOT
FOR HAVING FUN
CHALLENGE ME
WITH LITTLE GRACE
AND I WILL GET
INTO YOUR FACE

TELL ME NOW
YOU'D LIKE TO MEET ME
KISSING ASS
AND MEET AND GREET ME
NOTHING THAT
YOU'VE EVER KNOWN
WILL BE LIKE MEETING
ME ALONE

COME MY FRIEND
AND TELL ME WHERE
I PROMISE YOU
I WILL BE THERE
AND WHEN WE SPEAK
AND TELL OUR LIES
FEAR I'LL WATCH
FILL UP YOUR EYES

YOU AND SMALLNESS
LIKE YOU MATTER
ONLY WHEN YOU
GLOAT AND CHATTER
HIDING IN
YOUR CLOSET SWEET
LIFE IS DANGEROUS
ON THE STREET

DARKNESS RIDES
A PALE HORSE
IT'S RIDER KNOWS
THE ART OF FORCE
A SKILL UNKNOWN
TO THOSE UNTRAINED
WHO FEAR THE VERY
THOUGHT OF PAIN

Robert Parker Jameson

RHYME AND RUMBLE

ANCIENT HISTORY
WRITTEN BADLY
BY MY HAND
OF ENDLESS SADLY
MELTING TEARS
ON MARBLE FACES
WHERE AM I
IN ALL THESE SPACES

WORDS THAT TITTER TAT
ON PAGES
IN BETWEEN MY
RANTS AND RAGES
PHOTOGRAPHS
OF YESTERDAY
THE LIFE I LIVED
THEN THREW AWAY

SYLLABLES
LIKE NUMBERS COUNTED
SENTENCES
ARE FRAMED AND MOUNTED
MEANING THINGS
THAT BARELY MUMBLE
INTO SOUNDS
OF RHYME AND RUMBLE

Bobby Jameson June 2009

LONG ROAD HOME

LONG ROAD HOME
SEEMS SO FAR AWAY
LAY DOWN EACH MISERY
COME HOME TO STAY

LOAD OF OLD COTTON
ROLLIN' ALONG
MAKE ME A SOFT BED
AND SING ME A SONG

BEEN ON THIS ROAD
MOST OF MY YEARS
LEFT A LONG TRAIL
OF OLD DRIED UP TEARS

GO DOWN VIRGINIA
STAY FOR AWHILE
NOTHIN' EXCITES ME
BUT YOU MAKE ME SMILE

LONG ROAD HOME
SOMEDAY I'LL FIND
JUST KEEP ON WALKIN'
THIS ROAD WILL UNWIND

Bobby Jameson June 1, 2009

DESTINY

I WOULD WRITE
BUT MY MIND IS BLANK
I TRIED TO SING
BUT THERE WAS NO SOUND
I WALKED TO
THE END OF THE ROAD
AND A STRANGER ASKED
WHO I WAS

NO ONE
I SAID
I AM NO ONE
IN PARTICULAR
JUST A TRAVELER
IN SEARCH
OF MY
DESTINY

DESTINY
OR FATE
ASKED THE STRANGER
IS THERE A DIFFERENCE
I REPLIED

I WALKED ON
AND IN THE SKY
I NOTICED A BIRD
FLYING BACKWARDS

WHY ARE YOU
FLYING BACKWARDS
I YELLED
TO AVOID
MY DESTINY
ANSWERED THE BIRD

AND WHAT IS
YOUR DESTINY
I ASKED
DEATH
HE CRIED
I WANT TO
LIVE FOREVER

SEA OF TEARS

HOLY GHOST
THE SACRED
PRISM
I INSIDE EACH
CRITICISM
STAND BEFORE
YOU
IN MY
BLEEDING
CRIMSON WOUND
AM I MY
PLEADING

WRITE
MY WORDS
UPON THE SKY
I OUTSIDE
EACH
WATCHFUL EYE
STANDING ON
A SEA
OF TEARS
HOLY LIGHT
IMPALES
MY FEARS

NAKED ME
THE FLESH
NOW QUICKENS
MYSTICISM
HOW IT
SICKENS
WORDS
THAT HAMMER
IN THE NAILS
RUTHLESS WORLD
WHICH STILL
PREVAILS

STREETCARS TO NOWHERE

STREETCARS
TO NOWHERE
DREAMS IN
THE RAIN
LIVES LOST
TO SORROW
TRACKS FILLED
WITH PAIN

SWITCHYARDS
AND
BACKYARDS
DOGS IN
THE COLD
STREETCARS
TO NOWHERE
WE'RE ALL
GROWING OLD

RED LIGHTS
AND
GREEN LIGHTS
THE END OF
THE LINE
WE'RE ALL
FUCKING LONELY
AND LOSING
OUR MIND
